This suspension system uses a strap attached to the bottom of a liner which is fed through an opening at the bottom of the socket and then attaches to the outside of the socket. The ease of use with this system may be a good choice for new amputees or amputees that are less active and are just getting used to their new device. This is a simple and reliable system and makes art easy for an amputee to don and doff their device.
The lanyard system can come in multiple varieties, including straps, strings and ratcheting systems. Because they are applied from a sedentary position, these products are particularly beneficial for patients who have difficulty bending over to reach their socket. This type of system will automatically align the residual limb inside the prosthesis, allowing the patient to easily draw the limb into the socket and achieve a secure socket fit while also avoiding pin lock frustrations. Moreover, the lanyard system allows us to locate the lock body in a proximal or distal fashion, which enables patients with limited range of motion to increase their independence and reduce energy expenditure while utilizing the prosthesis. As a result of the customizable nature of this technology, the process of prosthetic intervention is simplified drastically while allowing users with decreased mobility to have a greater degree of independence.
